Holiday French Market...

I had the most fun this weekend with Mom at the Holiday Market, I thought I would share with you some of the great items I picked up for my home. I love sparkly things and actually had to go back a second time to look at everything!

Everything is vintage sheet music and glittered with german glass like these cute little jingle bells. I am using them for one of my trees (pictures will come soon). I tied mine with hand dyed and scented seem binding ribbon in the color scheme I wanted this year.

I am addicted to Bottle Brush Trees so... the collection grew again this year!

I got a new vintage pine tree this year, so of course I am in need of new ornaments! These are adorable glittered glass owl ornaments. They are a reproduction not vintage but you can't really tell. I did pick up some more glass owls for my tree and will share those next blog!

I think one of things I love most about this quant little holiday market was the attention to detail. The displays were mesmeriszing not to mention the boxed lunch! One a terrific and very old fashioned idea. You could buy a pink boxed lunch, which consited of a yummy 1/2 sandwich, cup of soup (it was chilly out) and chips. All done up in a pink cake box, I loved this. Nothing like a little lunch after all that shopping! I'll be back to share the pictures of my home and more new treasures I found this time around!

My last project was not Halloween themed at all but a larger altered art piece that looks like a big heavy book, but actually is a hidden compartment much like a jewelery box. I love altered art, but this is by far one of largest pieces I have worked with. I hope you enjoy!

A Vintage Halloween...

Have you ever completed a piece of artwork and realized that you really like it and wanted to keep it for yourself? Over the years I have on occasion wondered "why didn't I make one for me" I think this year I will at least try and create something that is mine to keep! For now... Here is my newest Halloween treat cone. I love the very vintage trick or treat pattern on this one. It has those little Black cats, devils and pumpkins. I trimmed this one with some vintage looking black and orange Halloween garland.

I am so ready for Halloween! Its almost here.

Devastated By Fire... The View Point Inn One of Twilights Own How you can help too.

The View Point Inn in Portland, Oregon, was devastated by fire on Sunday July 10. 2011 which hosted the Twilight Prom where Edward and Bella danced under a gorgeously lite gazebo from the first movie of The Twilight Saga. Its top floor totally burned after it was engulfed by flames

A large number of People are requesting that if everyone just donate $1.00 it will help. You can go to the View Point Inn and donate. Good Saturday Evening...

Just wanted to update everyone, contrary to popular belief I have not fallen down the rabbit hole with Alice, shrunk, stretched, scratched or stuffed into a teapot! Just feels like it.

I have been absent for a bit and missing you all terrible! This is day 8 after my little guys surgery. Its going to be a long few weeks yet but he is doing great. Its been a little rough on him and mom is pretty tired too.

More news from the Hollow, my blog and my website is getting an overhaul, please be patient until I get the website finished and back up and running with a brand new look. Until then, Im late, Im late... you know the rest.

Indigo Children – Born To Lead Hard To Manage

As I travel the country teaching workshops for parents, teachers and day care providers I often ask them if they recognize
Auntie Artichoke enjoys working with the parents of Indigo Children
These children are not content to color in the lines or glue macaroni on paper. They are very bright but also very active and curious.

Born To Be Leaders

Some of the children who are being born now are just arriving knowing who and what they are. They really just need parents to guide them a little and keep them safe till they are grown up enough to accomplish what they have been sent to do. Many parents and teachers are scared of such independent spirits and want to medicate them because they are easier to handle. They are usually intuitive and sensitive to the environment. These beautiful kind spirits are very hard to keep in the old rules of schools and families. They are self directed and don’t always get the “why” adults want them to do things.

A Few Characteristics Noted By Jan Tober and Lee Carol, Authors of What Is an Indigo Child

•They have difficulty with absolute authority (authority without explanation or choice).
•They simply will not do certain things; for example, waiting in line is difficult for them.
•They get frustrated with systems that are ritually oriented and don’t require creative thought.
•They often see better ways of doing things, both at home and in school, which makes them seem like “system busters” (nonconforming to any system).
•They seem antisocial unless they are with their own kind. If there are no others of like consciousness around them, they often turn inward; feeling like no other human understands them. School is often extremely difficult for them socially.
Trust Your Intuition

There are many other books out there that will give you insight into the personality of an Indigo Child. Your most important source of inspiration on dealing with your child is your heart and intuition. No one knows and loves your child as you do. Discuss and plan with the child systems to make life easier for both of you. I can usually tell because their eyes will look at you as if they can see into your soul. They are the ones who will help all of humanity to move in a direction. A leader who will lead in their own way. Our job is to keep these Indigo Children safe and recognize what they have to teach us. They are born to lead, so let’s guide and accompany them on their journey, but let them lead the way. I am sure you probably have a child or two who come to mind when I talk about an Indigo Child.

Brooms....not just for flying

Many pictures since the early 1400's depict witches on besoms (brooms). Why? Brooms have been an important symbol of fertility, as well as used to sweep away negative energies. Because this was an everyday household object it could not be held up as a sign of witchcraft in court. Brooms are very inconspicuous objects, let's face it - we all own one hiding in the corner of our hall closets. believe that witches disguised their wands as brooms to avoid further persecution for being a witch. Some even claim the flying theory came from the flying ointment that was said to be smeared onto the broom handle. Flying ointment was comprised of many toxic and potent hallucinogenic herbs. When it touched the broom rider's skin, it caused her to hallucinate, thus the theory of flying.

Even in medieval times besoms were placed at the opening of a hearth to ensure no evil would enter a house through the chimney. In modern day many pagans have brooms as a symbol of their faith, using a broom for a tool of purification. Decorative brooms are sometimes hung near doors to cleanse those entering a house, and it is said to avoid a particular visitor, your broom should be moved from the west side of the room to the east. This will make an unwanted visitor's stay very short. High Jon floor sweep is a special herbal mix that some people use to sweep out a new home in order to bless it. Sweeping out the old to make room for the new. A coven's high priestess may use her broom (an element of Air) to sweep ritual circles clean of negative energy.

I own a very special broom as a wedding keepsake. My spouse carried me over the broom for blessings and good luck as part of our hand-fasting. (and yes I was married on Halloween). A gift that was a symbol for my transition from the maiden phase of life to the mother. Its handle was hand carved from willow inscribed with the word "mother" in the witches alphabet and the base is made from traditional bundles of birch. What made the broom especially dear to me was the fact that all female family members and friends each contributed something to be added to the broom the night before the wedding.

I was amazed that no two women brought the same item. I was given a rose, foxtails, mugwort, pansies, violets, larkspur and many other flowers. Each lady chose a flower that was significant to why she was giving it to me. My niece, for instance, traveled out to a home where I spent part of my childhood running through the fields. She brought me back the very same wild flowers from the field I used to play in. Also added to the arrangement were the same wine colored roses from my bouquet. All of them were hand-wrapped and tied to the bristle end of the broom. I keep my broom above my hearth as a keepsake.

In Ireland, the witches broomstick was sometimes called a Faery's Horse. Brooms are also associated with Samhain or All Hallows Eve. Samhain is when the veil between the world of the living and the realm of the dead is at its thinnest. It is a time for astral projection and communion with the souls of the departed. This may be what popularized the typical Halloween broom riding witch. Whatever the origins, the icon of the witch on her broom is here to stay.

OOOOO...the holiday season is upon us and I am already starting to decorate.

So lets see who is coming to my party this year....

These adorable german glass glittered (I can hardly compose myself over the glitter lol) shaker skulls...and yup they rattle. How cool is that? Even cooler is the fact that these dapper little guys all have a handmade party hat made from antiqued music sheet paper.

I wanted to try some new techniques with my backgrounds and some new colors to get a blended water color look. Thats when this hit me, its a story that came together as I was painting. My moon and the white ghost pumpkins have a stardust glittery effect to them.

The Swamp Witch

The wise old woman of the swamp; she has experience of the ancient, the oldest of old, beyond memory, in the roots of the beginning of time. This is the Gran Ibo, most commonly known as the Swamp Witch, so called because the swamp is the place she calls home. A place of only the darkest shades of midnight. A place where only shadows and unseen things lurked behind dark crevices.

Beneath an autumn moon she worked. She was old, old enough that she couldn't remember how long she'd been there or how old she was. Air, earth, fire and water were the same to her, but she preferred the cover and coolness of the swamp water. Her hair was coarse and covered in snow white moss. She was hungry and it was time for her midnight snack. Neither frogs, nor toads or nightly creatures would suffice this evening. Her fingers gnarled and as she twisted them, she cast out a spell over the ghost pumpkins. Pumpkin soup for the soul!

Reborn on July 14th

Look what crash landed on my deck two weeks ago. I had no idea what it was or what it was going to be. My son who is turning 10 on saturday decided we should save it. I spent some time researching catapillars on the internet so I knew what it was and how to care for it. Thank goodness she didn't die from the fall out of our tree. I also didn't know if she was ready to go into her cacoon or if she would need to eat. I had no idea what they ate, and that each species also eats something distinctive and different from the rest. I found out what we had was a tiger swallowtail butterfly. Those crazy looking eyes on top her head aren't really eyes, they are to scare off preditors because they look snake like lol. I have never seen a 2" snake let alone a scary one but it must work.

My son decided to get a piece of bark from a fallen tree and set her on that. That was all it took to answer my first question. She began to attatch herself to the bark. It also started to turn brown after two days. Then the weird stuff started to happen. Her outer body not having a leaf to wrap around it to make the cacoon started to mimic the color and texture of the bark. She started to look like a piece of bark herself lol. In my mind I am thinking "I really hope its not just shriveling up and dieing" because thats what it looked like. We decided to hope above all else and wait out the 14 days it normally takes to hatch. My son found a nice little plastic dish where he placed some rocks, grass, leaves and the piece of bark with the creature conected to it.

Tonight just after dinner 14 days later she hatched! I can't believe something so big came out of a shell so small. she is beautiful and took flight around my kitchen for a while before decideing to sit on the ceiling fan. As far as I can tell we have a girl, she has the blue markings in with the yellow and black at the bottom of her wings. Careful not to touch her with our hands we coaxed her onto a paper plate and into a plastic container so we could set her free.

I watched all 4 of my kids take her outside with my oldest setting her free into the back yard. This is the kind of stuff moms live for. It also reminded me with a little patience we can take the time to save another living creature that might not have lived without our help. My son said it was the best birthday gift he could have gotten. I told him she probably was thinking the same thing.

Come on all you lazy sallys...get back to work!

Ok I admit I am the ultimate lazy sally this year but not without cause. kids, sick moms, friends with endles supllies of needing help. UHG......gets to be too much and if you dont want to lose you you really need to sit back and try and get you priorities straight. I think as women we forget who we really. We feel lost somewere. Our passions and hobbies become like work and we loose the will to do it. I stopped painting for over 4 mnths until Linda gave me the will, the inspirations to just do it. Thank you Linda I owe you one! a big one.

So here is my first onn to start off the season! Let me know if you enjy it.

Are You Getting Pinched Today?

Why do we get pinched for not wearing green on St. Patricks day?

It's thought that the pinching started in the early 1700s, about the time that awareness of St. Patrick's as a holiday came to the fore, too, in Boston, in the Massachusetts colony. They thought if you wore green, it made you invisible to the Leprechauns, which was good because they would pinch anyone they could see. So the pinching is to warn and remind you about the Leprechauns.

Pinching those not wearing green on St. Patrick's Day is an American tradition, having really nothing to do with Ireland or St. Patrick. The truth is, Irish people think Americans are crazy. St. Patrick's Day is not even remotely celebrated over there as heavily as it is in the US.

So there you have it, and of course neither of my kids were dressed wearing green to school today, yikes I am in troble when they get home lol.

Something to be happy for...

As most of you know its been quite a time for me which is why I took a short leave from my art and my blog. I wanted to thank all my wonderful friends for your kindness and support during my moms ordeal and all the other issues that arose during the past few months.

My mother had an aneurysm in her heart two days before Christmas so its been hard trying to focus on much else. I think of many of you as good friends and extended family and am happy that I have you all. Sometimes you have to stop and take a break because all the stress gets to you at once. Thats what I did, took time off to reflect on the important things in life. I did a little sould searching. I am going to share my journy with you these next few posts.

I would also especially like to thank Cat, Sherry, Chris, Denise, Margie, Kim and all the gals from the YOTP group for being there for me. I don't know what I would do without you ladies. I also would like to say thank you to Robert who has been a rock for me.

Something else to be happy for...

My princess is 5!!!!

Sissy turned 5 and had a wonderful party this weekend at haunted trails. What is haunted trails? lol a halloween themed amusement park of course, where else would this crazy halloween loving family go?
I know you guys are thinking **gasp** Heather never posts pictures of her kids on the internet, and I typically don't I am just a little anal that way lol. I wanted to share with you guys though as you all mean so much to me. Isn't she beautiful? and when she is about 13 and the hormones kick in I will look back fondly on these days of sweetness. I will post some more pics of whats been going on around here lately including my new scrapbook room!

Our gals at YOTP would like to express our deepest sympathy to the family of Linda Foster, one of our primitive members. You will be truly missed my friend.
Linda Foster, moderator of the Old Farmhouse Gathering died suddenly yesterday afternoon, Thanksgiving Day. For those of you who did not know Linda, She was a sweetheart and a wonderful primitive artist. All of us are grieving the loss of such a kind hearted soul.

Christmas Already...

I am finally trying to get caught up after the big computer crash. Christmas is fast approaching so I started some new Christmas themed luminaries this week. Just thought I would share a few new Halloween things I have listed on ebay this morning, then I am scurrying off on an hour and 1/2 excursion to Dekalb IL to visit a cute little shop called "Craker Jak's" the owners are so sweet and the store has been in local Dekalb town for 25 yrs. I am looking forward to meeting my friend. I have been trying to get up there for two years now and you guys know how that goes, and how IL winters can be such a pain in the patoot when you want to drive somewhere. I don't do snow lol, so I am heading there now while the weather is still acclimate.

The First Day of Fall...

The Autumn equinox or first day of fall is officially here today Tuesday Sept 22, 2009. I soooo look forward to fall every year it is such a peaceful time for me. The days will start to get shorter now and the nights longer, it will get dark a lot earlier than it did during the spring and summer months. This is all part of the way life is. A balance is drawn between the passing seasons.

Autumn is again representing the constant struggle which we endure in our lives. Darkness and death are as much a part of our lives as light and birth. As the seasons change and the vegetation on the earth withers and dies only to become alive and vibrant once again, it is a constant cycle of life, growth, death and rebirth. I will miss the leaves as they turn colors and fall from the trees, but know they will appear again and start the cycle all over again.

Victorian Halloween Candy Cones...

My mom shared with me a tradition she used to do when she was a little girl along with my grandmother. Especially on May day neighbors and friends would make victorian cones, sometimes filled with treats and goodies, sometimes flowers and they would leave them on a friends front door for them to find.

The Victorians had a great enthusiasm for gardening. Floral designing was taught and recognized as an art. Young ladies were required to study flowers. However, cultured young girls had to know how to arrange flowers, make tussie-mussies, grow, preserve, press, draw and paint flowers. It was considered a genteel occupation. This was a time of sentiment often labeled the "Romantic Movement" by some historians

This large hanging paper cone is just cute for Halloween! It has been glittered up, decorated with high quality cardstock Halloween printed papers, has a vintage Halloween postcard image on the front with a glittered boarder. The bottom of the cone is also glittered.

The top is done in vintage black and orange Bethany Lowe tinsel trimmings and the top is stuffed with some drieds, sweet annie, orange moss grass, and coriander flowers for fall.

Extreme Grungy Witch Shoes

Well surgery went well, the broken tooth is all out, and I feel so much better. I have to admit I was pretty nervous I have never been put under for a tooth before. It was over in a flash and its a good thing I like mashed potatoes and gravy because thats about all I can eat today lol. There was only a minor incision needed so a few stitches and I am as good as new! thanks so much for all the emails and well wishes you all sent, that was so sweet and much appreciated. Life is a little bland without wonderful friends like you guys!

So I listed a new auction on ebay for some adorable witch shoes, I love these shoes! I thought it would be kind of cool to do two sets one that is extremely grungy and rusty and one that is just a little grubby and primitive. That way my collectors can choose for themselves depending on if they collect extreme primitives or subtler worn treasures. I have a pair of shoes, a hat and a broom I put in my entry way every year and they look so cute when everyone comes in. So for the next few days and the weekend while I recover I will be working on more Halloween prims for my shop, etsy and ebay as well.

Victorian Witch Stocking...

How was everyone's Labor day? mine was good despite the fact that I am just dying from my broken tooth. I go in for surgery Wednesday morning yeah! so out it comes and I will be pain free. I should be more excited about that but the thought of surgery for extractions now means you don't get gassed and yanked, they put you out with an IV. When did they start doing that? I am a bit squeamish, but if it means the tooth will be out I guess its a good thing.

The kids and I spent the weekend with the fire pit going and roasting marshmallows. Fall is coming quick I can tell the mornings and nights are getting cooler and some of my summer garden flowers are already spent. I did work on some new projects this weekend too, Halloween ones! I am such a child when it comes to Halloween thank goodness I have little ones to give me the excuse I need to act like a kid myself.

So I have been stitching away, took a break from painting for a bit and made some Victorian Witches Stockings. This one in particular I love because of the antique looking photo of the witch on it. So I am sharing with you the new one. Hope you like it. I think I will drag all the decorations out this week, I put a few up already.

The Salem Witch Trials...

A new offering from me now up on ebay was one of the most fun projects I have embarked upon. New England's history as well as that of the Salem Witch trial as you can guess is one of my favorite subjects. Another reason why I want to be on the east coast every fall.
So I created one of my extreme grungy books with a memorial theme. It has all the victims of the Salem Witch trials names, as well as the method and date they were put to death. It was such a sad time then during the hysteria of Salem Towne and I hoped to capture that in a keepsake.

A Child's Wonder...

I often wonder why I never really grew up lol, I know why though its the wonder of new found things you see out of a child's eyes when they find something amazing for the first time. Its like magick, its the little things to me in life that mean the most. My kids are always out exploring something or on adventures if they weren't they would be missing all this really cool stuff.

Two years ago we adopted "Charlie" and warty toad that came to call on the kids in the evening. They would bring him in to play at night and he typically would stay around the deck and pond. It kind of reminded me of the frog prince story I read to the kids at bedtime. Charlie would come up to the back door and look in. I swear he must have did this every night for weeks. I often wonder if he also thought of the kids as new friends.

Tonight we adopted "Flop" he is much like Charlie although he is still a baby and not even as big as a quarter. He is so tiny and fragile, much like my children. So we sat on the deck watching each others faces, and flop as we took turns holding and petting him. To get an idea of his size, those are my 9 yr olds hands in the pictures. He is just a tiny guy. We found him a safe place in the flower bed to avoid getting stepped on and there he is. Maybe he will be back again tomorrow to play.
I thought I would share pics of Flop as I did of Charlie. He is a dapper looking fellow.

Twilight Falling...

It is the season of the witch, well ok its not but its coming soon and I am getting ready for it. I can't think of anything else but Halloween and witches. Thats ok with me though I love to paint them so its fitting that I just keep doing it.

So here is a new one in a long series I am doing this month, titled "twilight falling"

Which reminds me I have to get dinner ready for the kids before they start revolting. Have a great evening everyone!

ACEO's

I love doing these little ACEO's. I remember the first time I found out what they were. I have to admit I had never even heard of them 3 years ago. I was amazed at the artists that create little works of art in this small format. Don't laugh I was someone scrapbooking on 12 x 12 sheets where you have room to work!
For those of you who are not familiar with ACEO's here is the skinny on them:

A.C.E.O.- Art Cards -Editions and Originals... fit in a standard trading card sleeve, or can be matted and framed. They are an affordable way to own, collect and / or trade original works of art.
The only rule for aceo's is their size, they have to be 2.5 x 3.5 always. Other than that anything goes. They can be painted, drawn, altered art, I know of an artist that does them on fabric dryer sheets. Similar to ATC's or artist trading cards which began as a way for artists to trade each others work back and forth with each other. These were not meant to be sold. ACEO's hit ebay and grew like you wouldn't believe. I am glad they did. I have began to collect them from all the artist friends I know.

I am used to doing larger paintings but once I began doing them I couldn't stop. I love them. I just wish I had more time to work with them as my days are filled with so many other mediums. Here is a new ACEO that I did this week and will be available on ebay:

Mental Duck...To Mental Swan

I feel that I may have turned from ugly duckling to swan, or so I have been told. I hope to always inspire others in life and in art as well for as long as I am able to do so.

The Wise Ones...

I hate Sundays, I have since I was a kid. I think because its the end of the weekend. Its time for everyone to go home, and Monday is lurking around the corner lol. Another long week ahead.

I wish I was wise, at my age I still don't have all the answers to lifes great questions. I do know this though, art is part of your soul and no matter how awful you feel or how much you would like to give up...creating is always there and can pull you out of whatever slump you are in.

Back From the Dead...

"The Pumpkin King"

After being down for 10 days with that nasty bug thats going around, I am back in the swing of things. So much stuff I had to wait to get back to but I am still taking it slow. I was already yelled at by my doc when no one would bring me a laptop lol. I can't help it I am just a work-a-holic I guess. When you enjoy something its hard to not do it.

I wanted to thank all my friends and those of you who sent me all the well wishes while I was sick. It was very thoughtful and I appreciate it greatly! Also for Sherry and Cat who had a stoke while I was gone, they worry about me so.

Definitely NOT an award free blog zone...

I have given it some thought as to why people want there blogs award free zones, sometimes we are so busy we can't keep up with them all, we would be blogging all day long!
I on the other hand love each and every one of them, and cherish the people who give them to me. I feel very honored to have someone stop by and say, hey you made my day so much brighter, or you inspired me so.

My friends, customers and fellow blog pals drive me to do what I do, they are all muses in my little artistic world. So with no further ado...I got a really cool award today. (subtle ain't I? lol)

So I wanted to do something different with this award, I want to blog about the wonderful gal that gave it to me. Sweet Darla from Artistic Accents by Darla. So lets talk about her shall we!

Darla does some amazing artwork and I have seen her etsy shop, wow you should visit her shop too by clicking Here Darla is a decorative artist from the Red River Valley region of North Dakota. She does the type of painting I wish I could do, I have not mastered color as some strange phobia I have prevents me from using it lol (inside joke there). I can't seem to get away from the black and orange. Her art is so colorful and unique and truly a masterpiece in every detail. She is working with mixed media now and has a wonderful selection of Original paintings and aceo's.

This is one of my favorites: (obviously)
The colors are so vibrant and really pop but they are also subtle as well.

Look at the detail and the sweet expressions on their faces, her art just amazes me to no end.
There is something very special in the way she created mixed media pieces, very magickal indeed!

Will your art become Censored?

When will you be censored? Sometimes its only a matter of time. I received word today from my best friend Sherry about an article and a lets say "ruckus" that is occurring in Eureka Springs, Arkansas.

Its all about censorship and we as artists are all affected by it, as well as its outcome.

The little northwest Arkansas town has a 150-foot-long old retaining wall turned into an art exhibit with artwork from local artisans up for public viewing. Created in 2004 by Charlotte Buchanan with her project called The Artery. It has been up since September and the theme for this exhibit is "Icons" (popular icons in religion and culture). Among some of the paintings, that are offending tourists, I bring you to artist Beth Post whose work is amazing and creating quite a stir with her piece entitled "The Temptation of Alice". I have found nothing in this painting, or any of the other 27 that up on display offensive. I want to hear what all you think about it.

I have to wonder about my paintings. Will my witches become offensive because some of them carry pentacles, or have familiars, or worship in the woods under silhouettes of trees? As far as the council in Eureka Springs is concerned I find your idea of censorship very offensive. Shame on you for even considering it.

Jennifer awarded me with this honor and had me in tears tonight. This is what she said: "You can never extinguish the Light that Shines Brightly within all of us. If there is Hope, there is Light, if there is a Dream, that same Light will lead the way, and this Award I created this evening reflects that Creative Spark, that Light we all hold within us, but there are certain people who come to mind that Shine So Brightly that you can't help notice the Warmth that illuminates in all they do, and in what they represent and just who they are."

Its moments like these when you realize how very special those who you truly love are. I have realized that along this very hard path I have traveled there has been much wear and tear on my soul. Its these life moments that make you sometimes question, have you done enough? Have you shared, and loved, and helped enough. Its this award that made me see that I have touched lives of those around me, and after all isn't that what its all for?

I was feeling a bit down tonight as many of you know I have had many years of martial arts training and lost a wonderful inspiration to me David Carradine has passed away. I often wonder what pushes me to continue my work, well thats hard to say. I guess it would be my passion for creating, I simply have to be creating something or starting some new venture.

I often wonder what keeps my wanting to share it with the blogging world. That one is easy, all of you. I can't remember when I have gotten so much recognition. I think I recieved 5 awards this past month and each and everyone of them is much appreicated. It is all you, my caring loving friends, my artists buddies, my devoted followers. It makes you smile more to know that there are those of you out there who will take the time to acknowledge what someone means to them.

With my heart wide open ~ I thank everyone of you for giving me purpose in my life.

Then there is Cindy lol, what a gal to know. She shares this awful addicting passion with me for vintage halloween art. Cindy is not just another lady in my art group, another fan of Halloween and the nostaligia that surrounds it. She is a special, kind, sweet, amazing person to know. I am blessed to have met her. She has given me the Watermelon award! (always thinking of others)

Ye Olde Witches Brew Magazine is celebrating one year!!!!

One year of very hard work bringing a dream into reality for our own Jennifer Toppel.
One year that I have followed along the path with many wonderful friends, artists and contributers as they came together sharing and supporting each other.

I am so proud of Jennifer, watching someones vision turn into a reality, especially someone you admire and love is very exciting. This publication was Jen's dream and she made it happen.

I am a glowing mother this morning. I just got a excited phone call from my son's 3rd grade teacher. I don't know which of us were more excited lol.

My little bee has now ranked in the top 5 of his school in the spelling bee, he goes on to compete more Monday...I am so excited I can hardly wait for him to get home and tell me all about it. I have to act surprised, because she wants him to tell me. I was cracking up, I am so thrilled that he has such a wonderful teacher that she could hardly contain herself and had to call me in the middle of the day.

Thats what makes a great teacher, someone who is always on top of things with her students. What really made me smile is the fact that she went on to say how proud she was of him and how excited she was to have him in her class this year and that he has been such a joy. She would like to keep in touch with him as he goes on to the other schools which he will be next year. I remember at conferences she told me He is one of those kids you want to watch throughout your school years and follow what they will become later in life. Me too, I can only imagine what great things he will do. Right now he has settled on the idea of being an arachnologist. I think thats pretty cool.

I am amazed more and more by him every day. Just when I think I can relax he shocks me with something new. I guess when he was a baby and I told him he could do whatever he wanted to and succeed, he took it literally lol.

Just wanted to share my excitement with all of my wonderful friends.

OOAK Primitive altered art assemblage grungy book

I hope everyone had a wonderful Mother's day! I know I did, I had 4 little ones who were very creative and sneaky about surprising me this year. All of them came up with their own unique ideas of what to get me for the big day. I got some really special gifts and a party cupcake party too! I didn't even have to vaccume or clean up toys. I was made dinner, got a favorite book, movie, coffee cup and even time alone (which I would have spent cleaning had they not yelled at me lol) It was a really special day for me.

Because I have been down with a nasty cold I wasn' t able to see my mom on Sunday but I did call her and will be planning something for wednesday, this year her birthday didn't fall on mothers day so I won't miss out on that.

I was able to keep busy (while not cleaning lol) and this is my new creation though so I thought I would share.

I have to admit I became adicted, I loved Twilight and I also miss scrapbooking, I have been so busy with other things that scrapbooking my children's photos took a back seat to other work. So I came up with an idea to incorporate my scrapbooking and altered art projects into a themed book.

I am very pleased with how it turned out. I really wanted to show my love for the book and the characters by making an altered art photo album. It is still a little prim with a modern twist.

I listed it on ebay tonight, under one of my new art groups BWBA. If you are not yet searching BWBA (Because We Believe Art) you need to check them out. The "Boo Crew"

The boo crew started as a little sketch I did of a group of characters to read to my children at bedtime. My children's love for the characters grew along with the sketches until Grimly the skelly boy and his gang of friends came to life and continued to grow and grow. It has now spawned a series of stories full of inspiration as Grimly and his friend go on these amazing journeys. The Adventures of Grimly.

Meet Grimly and the gang: His best and trusty friend the black cat "Spook", "Stitch" is the jester always clowning around & keeping Grimly on his toes, and "Stump", the pumpkin boy who doesn't have to hide how he looks at Halloween.

Reluctantly but with the urging of a few of my artist friends I decided to share some paintings with the general public. I feel a bit weird about it really. I guess maybe because these guys are such a part of my life with my children, they think its great so where can one go wrong. I brought them back, featured two paintings that are now available on ebay. I am not sharing the stories of all Grimly's adventures, some things are just for my little ones. I hope that everyone likes the ones that I did share.

Historic Galena, IL Part III

Since so many of you asked to see pictures of the Inn I stayed at, here they are but be patient I have so much to catch up on this week so I will upload pics and post as I go. Thanks to everyone for their interest in my travels!

The Goldmoor Inn

The Goldmoor Inn sits high atop the bluffs overlooking the majestic Mississippi River.

I have to say this is one of the best Inn's I have ever stayed at. Their service goes way above and beyond.

With suite names like Lancelot, Guinevere, Arthur and Elizabeth the idea of a castle drew me in already.

The grounds likewise are very well cared for, paying attention to every detail it sits on and I loved the little fountain in the circle drive.

The rooms were very richly decorated (I stayed in the Elizabeth suit) and the amenities were unlike most B & B's I have stayed at. When they say they are unparalleled in service they are right.

They are the first Bed and Breakfast in Illinois to offer free out going calls, (as long as its not abused) They understand that mothers need to check in on children when they are away. Which I did because Tiny had come down with a cough and cold just before I left.

Check out this front door, I love wooden doors, and the pathway up to some of them resembled the look of a drawbridge. They went all out when they built this fantastic Inn.

If you need anything all you have to do is ask. The staff is very helpful and courteous. They have a little gift shop that stays open until 10 and if you want to watch movies all you have to do is pick some out and take them up to your room. Thats the first time I have ever seen an open door policy on renting movies. Your room has a dvd player, vcr and huge color tv. It was so cozy that I decided to order out pizza and watch a movie before going out again in the morning. I didn't make it through the movie, the bed was like sleeping on a real mattress lol something I don't have here at home and I fell sound asleep. I could have fit all 4 kids and myself in that bed and still had room to stretch out. I have to admit it was strange to sleep without a knee in my spinal column, a foot in face, or a child flopping around like a bucking bronco. I think this was the first time in almost 9 years I got up for a drink & a snack and it was for me!
I also like the fact that they stock your fridge, with water, soda's and orange juice.

Historic Galena, IL Part II

The Dowling House.

Built in 1826, by John Dowling this is the oldest structure in Galena. The home is built of native limestone and served as both a trading post, and a residence.

It is furnished with artifacts, primitives, and Galena pottery now. Back then when the Dowling home was built there 195 homes, warehouses, and shops in the city and another 46 under construction. The population was only 800. I love the old colonial feel of this home, especially the little lantern outside the front door. I am sure it wasn't electric at the time but probably looked very much the same. I also love those old hardwood doors and the stone cottage look.

In the heart of Jo Daviess County lies nestled a little town called Galena, surrounded by farms and fields that stretch farther than the eye can see.
I was lucky enough to take a little much needed trip this past weekend and traveled to Historic Galena Illinois for a weekend of antiquing, shopping, and relaxing. I decided if I was going antiquing might as well do it right in a town well know for its vintage charm, antique shops and hideaways among the Victorian pines. This little town with historic landmarks also had plenty of 19th century architecture.

I met plenty of friends along the way, One thing I really miss about living in the county is the farms and animals. I love cows, always have since I was a kid. If I could have one in town I would. They are very friendly and their noses feel just like velvet. Ok call me crazy but I just love em.

I forgot what it was like to travel up and down the hilly country side, I was partially car sick and my ears kept popping the whole time. I noticed that almost every farm house is painted white. Come to think of it, all the farmhouses I have lived in were white too. I wonder why that is? I also forgot that their caution signs have tractors on them!

Something about the country outside of Galena screams peace and tranquility. Simpler times when you should stop and smell the fresh country air, walk through the meadows picking buttercups and just be.

I will be posting a lot more pictures of my trip as I get my images installed on the computer so if you would like to see more come back and take a peek. For now its just Bessie and the girls....

All Hallow's Eve Assemblage...

Do you know where the term Make-do comes from? I like it, the primitive definition of a make-do is this:

Make-do, (n): A substitute for something unobtainable at the time; a makeshift. During colonial days, for example, if a woman was unable to afford a pincushion, she would make do with what she had and create one with items such as a broken glass as a base, and scraps of fabric for the cushion. In the “primitive world” this word often describes a vintage style pin cushion, or something that was made out of household items. It can also describe other fabric sculptures mounted on a base such as a candle stick, doorknob, and more.

My great grandmother had to make do with a lot of things, because they just didn't have them back then. Oh the stories I could tell you about Great Grandma, she always smelled of something homemade and had the brightest smile you have ever seen. She was one of those Grandma's everyone wish they had. So I ask myself why throw away things when you can breath new life into them? Thats where this idea sprang forth in my waking sleepiness. What to do with all those old glass bottles I have? Candle holders of course, the grungiest I can make them with a Halloween flair. Super sweet smelling, and I just made do.

Things are starting to get back to normal somewhat, poor Sissy's finger still has a long way to go after she dislocated it, ouch! I can't help but remember what it was like to break my wrist as an adult but to dislocate a finger at 4 yrs of age. I cringe at the thought. Thank goodness kids heal quickly, especially broken bones.

I can't complain about the snow anymore, after two days of rain the sun is shining today for a change and I have two brand new sets of cardinals chirping away out in the back yard. I also have 7 squirrels who think they run the place lol. Well they do really and take turns coming up to get a snack at the back door.

I have been busy trying to catch up, but I did come up with a really neat idea I wanted to share. I have never been one to throw out things that can possibly be used. which is why I think my closets, shed and garage are full of boxes of little treasures. I think they refer to that as uh hmmm... "pack ratting" lol. Ok so I am a pack rat, I have always been able to see the use in something that others might cast away. So my idea sprang forth and I turned some really great containers into some really cool old time vintage spice tins. I got to mix a little of my love for altered art / scrapbooking with my painting and primitive antiquing and this is what came out of the thought.

I love how they turned out, I had to list them in my etsy shop and on the site. Well after making them really grubby.

The gals over at "Todays Primitive Home" honored me this week with choosing one of my luminaries as a favorite to add to their "latest picks" in the magazine. This is very exciting to me, and I appreciate it. I went and looked because I love reading the articles and recipes. There I am smack on the home page. How cool is that?

If your not familiar with Todays Primitive Home, you should be. I love that magazine. I think the stories they write are my favorite reminding me of childhood memories of my own.

This is a wonderful resource of information as well, its nice to see what other artist and handcrafters are making, how they are decorating their homes, what they are collecting. Right up my ally since my own home is beginning to look like a an antique mall in itself. Interior design tips is one of my favorite places to stop and read. I think I like the fact that are promoting things to bought that are hand made rather than mass produced and made here right in the usa.

Check them out when you have time, you will love it if your a primitive artist or collector like me.

My little girl is turning 4 already and watching her grow has been quite the experience! As you watch your children from one year to the next you have to laugh as each one develops their own identities, personalities and style. I was blessed with 4 a baby for all seasons, summer, fall, winter, and spring. I don't know how that happened but it did. Two boys, two girls, all unique in their own way.

This one is my spring child, my girly girl, there isn't anyway around it. She is hopelessly in love with all thats pink & glittery, playing my little pony, dress up and giving make overs to the cat.
She is my diva, my drama queen, my pout when I don't get my way girl.
She is my sparkly butterfly, my princess, my delicate flower. She is all that is sugar & spice!

She is 4, like butterflies....little girls need no excuse.

Baba Yaga

The Witches of the world theme has a winner, and no its not me lol, which is just as well the person I voted for did win, and she is much deserving of it. If your not familiar with Arlene, check out her work on Ebay: dreamedbyarlene

Arlene has not only inspired me, she brought back a wonderful memory from my childhood. When I was little they used to have these book mobiles go around and my mother would take me to pick out books. I found an old Russian Fairy tale of a witch named Baba Yaga. (and you wondered why I am so demented and full of Halloween spirit all year long lol) The story was so captivating to me that every time we visited the book mobile that is all I would check out. My mother would read it to me every night and finally she decided to buy the book lol. I want to share some of the story here, as well as the pics of Arlene's work, she chose Baba Yaga as her witch, and all I can say is WoW! It is a wonderful OOAK original sculpt.

Baba Yaga
O nce upon a time an old man, a widower, lived alone in a hut with his daughter Natasha. Very merry the two of them were together, and they used to smile at each other over a table piled with bread and jam, and play peek-a-boo, first this side of the samovar, and then that. Everything went well, until the old man took it into his head to marry again.

So the little girl gained a stepmother. After that everything changed. No more bread and jam on the table, no more playing peek-a-boo around the samovar as the girl sat with her father at tea. It was even worse than that, because she was never allowed to sit at tea at all anymore. The stepmother said that little girls shouldn't have tea, much less eat bread with jam. She would throw the girl a crust of bread and tell her to get out of the hut and go find someplace to eat it. Then the stepmother would sit with her husband and tell him that everything that went wrong was the girl's fault. And the old man believed his new wife.

So poor Natasha would go by herself into the shed in the yard, wet the dry crust with her tears, and eat it all by herself.

Then she would hear the stepmother yelling at her to come in and wash up the tea things, and tidy the house, and brush the floor, and clean everybody's muddy boots.

One day the stepmother decided she could not bear the sight of Natasha one minute longer. But how could she get rid of her for good? Then she remembered her sister, the terrible witch Baba Yaga, the bony-legged one, who lived in the forest. And a wicked plan began to form in her head.

The very next morning, the old man went off to pay a visit to some friends of his in the next village. As soon as the old man was out of sight the wicked stepmother called for Natasha.

"You are to go today to my sister, your dear little aunt, who lives in the forest," said she, "and ask her for a needle and thread to mend a shirt."

"But here is a needle and thread," said Natasha, trembling, for she knew that her aunt was Baba Yaga, the witch, and that any child who came near her was never seen again.

"Hold your tongue," snapped the stepmother, and she gnashed her teeth, which made a noise like clattering tongs. "Didn't I tell you that you are to go to your dear little aunt in the forest to ask for a needle and thread to mend a shirt?"

"Well, then," said Natasha, trembling, "how shall I find her?" She had heard that Baba Yaga chased her victims through the air in a giant mortar and pestle, and that she had iron teeth with which she ate children.

The stepmother took hold of the little girl's nose and pinched it.

"That is your nose," she said. "Can you feel it?"

"Yes," whispered the poor girl.

"You must go along the road into the forest till you come to a fallen tree," said the stepmother, "then you must turn to your left, and follow your nose and you will find your auntie. Now off with you, lazy one!" She shoved a kerchief in the girl's hand, into which she had packed a few morsels of stale bread and cheese and some scraps of meat.

Natasha looked back. There stood the stepmother at the door with her arms crossed, glaring at her. So she could do nothing but to go straight on.

She walked along the road through the forest till she came to the fallen tree. Then she turned to the left. Her nose was still hurting where the stepmother had pinched it, so she knew she had to go on straight ahead.

Finally she came to the hut of Baba Yaga, the bony-legged one, the witch. Around the hut was a high fence. When she pushed the gates open they squeaked miserably, as if it hurt them to move. Natasha noticed a rusty oil can on the ground.

"How lucky," she said, noticing that there was some oil left in the can. And she poured the remaining drops of oil into the hinges of the gates.

Inside the gates was Baba Yaga's hut. It wasn't like any other hut she had ever seen, for it stood on giant hen's legs and walked about the yard. As Natasha approached, the house turned around to face her and it seemed that its front windows were eyes and its front door a mouth.

Witches of the World Theme Challenge

One of my groups is doing a challenge this month entitled "witches around the world" for the theme. I did a painting for this challenge that was so much fun, its called "the Celtic Witch". I wrote a poem for it as well that is written on the back of the painting. Dancing as if no one is watching...

Friday the 13th..

The most evil superstitious day of the year...Friday the 13th, and well it went according to planned for me lol. My washer broke not to mention with sopping wet comforter in it. So off to the bathtub the quilt went and off to the store I went singing to the tune of 330 bucks I now am the proud owner of a new washing machine. Yikes! not cheap are they?

Valentines Day was next and I will skip that, it was a rough day for me as some of you know. Dealing with grief of lost loved one is not easy. However my lovely friends had comments to send, cards and little notes of inspiration to give me and I am very blessed to have all of you! Sunday was much better I got a valentine from my son as a surprise when I went to his art exhibit at the school. It was on display. He did a Oaxaca sculpture of a spider of course, an aceo lol ( I couldn't believe they were teaching that in art!) Mexican tinware, and my favorite was his Chinese bamboo brush paintings. I am framing that one!

Anyway, I promised eggs and here they are, my primitive Easter Blessings Eggs. I am working on some chocolate ones as well. Who knows what else will pop up with spring?

Spring Is In The Air...

OK, so spring has her own ideas about when she should finally arrive. I am catching spring fever anyway in hopes to help push her along some. Saturday was beautiful out in the 50's and it was nice for the kids to play outside all afternoon. I think we all have cabin fever. They are calling for snow this weekend huh?!? I hope not.
This weekend is Valentines day already! I have sold out on almost all of my valentine stockings and have been working on a few custom orders.

I am looking forward to a artist challenge soon, I will let everyone know when that is under way. I can't wait to see what all the artists will come up with. It has not been decided on yet what the theme will be but you guys will be the first to know.

Whats new???
Spring and Easter that will be next so to start them off I have been crafting away and who would have thought carrots would be in such demand lol. I can't keep these things from flying out the door but they are so fun to make. My dad actually thought they were real carrots lol. So here are a few pics of my spring carrots, Hope you all like them. I am off to stuff a witch into the oven but will be back later to post my new easter eggs!

One of those mornings

Its one of those mornings after... where you have been up most of the night with a sick little one, thankful that there is pot of coffee brewing and if you can bend over without grunting, or your knees popping your no worse for ware.

After battling the sick kids two weeks ago, the colds and runny noses are starting up again. Ugh! I hate that. Spent last night with the baby in a steamy bathroom. she is so congested I had to give her decongestant and turn on the vaporizer. Its been so cold and with the heat up everything is so dry. I just hope it doesn't swoop through the house again.

Well they took my little guys picture for the paper and set him up with an ice cream party. The boy ate 10 bowels of ice cream lol. They asked him if he wanted more and he said "Im gonna eat til I puke" lol. Only mine. He didn't throw up by the way so that was good.

OK, here is the new project I was working on...had to take a break from all those witches for a bit, but these have inspired me to do witch dolls lol.
I started out with 3 and gave them all names from the 1800s. Isabella is the white one, Constance is the brown one, and Elijah is the black one. They are very extreme primitive stump doll angels and I am so happy with how they turned out. I ended up listing them on ebay but I am hoping to actually make a set for myself.

Still waiting not-so-patiently for spring!

New Work In Progress

OK, whats up with the snowflakes today? Where is spring????

Yesterday I went out and bought a sewing machine that is so badly needed. This hand stitching is for the birds and just takes too darn long.
I put the paintings aside a bit, I have some new projects to work on. I am currently designing some New England Death Angel Dolls and I love them so far. My first has found his home in my pie keep cabinet because he turned out so cute I can't bring myself to part with him. I am sure you have all made something you can't just let go.

My prim sheep are in the oven and awaiting their little faces being painted. I also have heart bowl fillers to finish. I am just everywhere today. I feel creative juices flowing and don't know where to begin.

The website got new graphics and I am so excited with how they turned out. The old antique photo looks just like grandma feeding her chickens! Stop by and see it and let me know what you think. I am hanging up the halloween graphics until just before fall. I really love this one. Witch Hollow Primitives

"Where Have You Been?"

Shame, shame on you bad wolfy. Where have you been?
This 11x14 acrylic on canvas painting was inspired by my best friend Jules and her love for wolves. I wanted my witch scolding her wolf for being out gallivanting all night and not knowing where he was at. There she sits perched on a rock, tired from the on going expedition and what do you know....here he comes lol.
Wanted to share this one with everyone, as it was painted with inspiration from a very special person in my life.

Drawing Down the Moon

We have gotten more snow here, about 3" and counting. The kids are starting to feel a bit better so I think they are on the mend. I just wish the weather would make up its mind lol! I am fighting it off every step of the way, I don't want to be the last in line to get sick.

My sweet friend Vila Spiderhawk has her new (and 3rd) book coming out in mid march and I am so excited for her!

The full moon has given me inspiration to finish my latest painting.
My new one is up and for sale at ebay, "Drawing Down the Moon" I had fun doing this one, wasn't sure what direction it would go in at first, now I have 3 dancing witches under the full moon. The moon as well as the swirl of stardust coming out of her wand both are glittered with stardust. I am really happy with this piece.

Winter Solstice

Hello everyone it is blustery here today!

What happened to my 62 degree day? Aside from the kids getting sick, I am back in the swing of painting this month. Slowly but surly dealing with ear infections, colds and flu. My house looks like the plague struck lol. I started doing a original one of kind art series and was asked to keep doing more in the theme so here is The 3rd in my winter witch series, I am really having fun with these especially the colors and the textured snow. I will be putting her in my etsy shop this week.

Wintry Witch Series #2

Here is my second Yuletide Witch Painting.
8x10 acrylic on flat canvas panel. Two witches, decorating their Yule tree for the holidays. This one has a whimsical reindeer as well! I also textured the snow to give it that vintage snow ice glitter look.

I am exhausted, I hope everyone had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year as well! :) I am ready for spring.

Wintery Witch

Sissy's Dollhouse Part 2

Day 3, no survivors lol.

Just kidding, today I finished up the wallpapering and added some borders to some of the rooms. I had to do a really girly bedroom, which of course is pink stripes and flowered carpeting. I added a girl power poster, and some pictures to that room as well. I think the pink pony "pinkie pie" will like that one best.
The attic posed some tricky problems with the gable roof, but I pieced it in pretty well, a mish mash of paisley papers on the ceilings and back wall. This one has wainscoting, a gray and whitewashed paper that looks like wood and went around the edges of the bottom.

The biggest room is really retro, the paper is wild in there in swirls of purple, green, pink and cream. I did the side walls in matching green and tiny polka dots. I also trimmed the border with the same wild paper. There is a pictue on the wall in that one that says "princess". The tiffany lamp doesn't actually match but it still looks cute on the ceiling, that one isn't lighted.

The dining room has red vintage looking flooring, and a blue flowered wallpaper. Ok, now I promised to tell you what I was using for the wallpaper. I decided against contact paper or real wallpaper because it is just too expensive the small amounts I need. Plus I want to sink the bulk of the money for this project into the furniture, accessories and pony's so being an avid scrapbooker it dawned on me to use scrapbook papers. I have about a million of them, don't need to buy anything and already know how to cut & apply it. Scrapbook paper comes in millions probably billions of patterns and designs and is really pretty anyway. I cut the pieces to fit, and coated the back with a water based adhesive. It is workable so when I get it glued I can move it around a bit if I need to. The borders were fun to do, I found a matching color cut it to scale and I used some scalloped scissors to give it a nice edge. Some of the borders like the one I used in the bathroom was a printed design and I just cut it out of the paper. Windows and frames for pictures can be done easily as well. You clip the photograph or a picture from a magazine and they glue it to a frame cut from cardstock paper. Instant painting on the wall. I also added some stickers that look like pictures or posters in the girly bedroom. These were all scrap booking embellishments as well.

I have yet to start shingling the roof! I am thinking Popsicle sticks cut into fish scale patterns, unless I can find something that looks a little better. Dollhouse shingle are essentially Popsicle sticks anyway, packaged and sold as shingles lol. I still have to look into the lighting as well and how I am going to run that into the mix. I still have it hidden in the laundry room, but at least on top of the dryer I can work on it as long as I can keep them out. I eventually may have to answer the question "mom why is your bathrobe shaped like a dollhouse?"

Sissy's Dollhouse

So here I am with a great idea, well at least I thought it was great until I realized how much time I had to complete this project by Christmas Eve! I know you guys have been asking for pictures so I made a slideshow of the work in progress. For those of you that don't know, my little girl who is now almost 4 collects mini my little pony's. She wants a dollhouse for them. I thought it was a wonderful idea until I found out they don't really have full size dollhouses for the pony's, the big ones or the little ones.

Well there I go thinking again, I priced dollhouses and wow, I am not paying 200 bucks for a cheap piece of plastic that is not really even big. So that brings me to my next thought. My 2 yr. old daughter also collects the larger pony's, I grew up around construction and did it most of my adult life so why would I not build one myself? Something exactly that they would want. So there the idea grew.... and grew....and grew. I am now being referred to as "Tim Taylor" from the show tool time. Bigger / Better / More only I am not blowing anything up...yet. I am talking lighting fixtures and such but lets see how far I get. That doesn't even cover the huge pony palace I am making out of an old dresser...yes I said dresser.

Ok so here are your "Work In Progress" Pictures that you wanted, I will take more as I go. I did a little slideshow to start out with and I think I got a good head start on 3 rooms. The bathroom has now become my favorite...the wallpaper looks all seaweedy, in aqua and purple and grey. I added a aqua colored flooring and even a matching border to the top. (Don't look at the ceilings yet they aren't done.) I will tell you next time what I used for the wallpaper and why...

Sunday...we begin the shingles on the roof. 25 Days and counting until Christmas Eve, wish me luck.

Twas' The Night Before Christmas...

My week started of with a project and now that I am covered with most of the materials I used to hand craft this piece, I am happy with how it turned out. Christmas is right around the corner so I will be adding new things all week.

I listed this one up on ebay last night, a primitive grungy vintage Santa postcard book. I think he looks very primitive! An excerpt from the classic poem "twas the night before Christmas" is on left side and an old vintage Santa on the right. I used my normal techniques for mybooks on this piece but added primitive christmas flair to it as well. Lots of Sweet Annie, cinnamon and vanilla and it turned out yummy!

Witches Tea

I was thinking that the new Yule season is coming up quickly and I need to get busy, its not all candy canes and snow balls for me though. I am still in that witchy mood and so I will go on to create witchy items. I am missing Halloween but there will be winter witches, and sleighrides to paint.
I have listed some new items in the shop as well as on etsy, peppermint bowl fillers, and candy cane ornaments. All hand baked and hand painted.

I also whipped up this Witches Tea Electric Lamp, just in case someone wants to give witchy gifts this year. We did get a light dusting of snow here, although today's sunshine melted it all away. It won't last for long though winter is officially here, its just too darn cold!

I hope you are all snuggling up with warm fuzzy slippers and sipping hot cocoa by the fire. Thats what I will be doing if I ever get all these new snowman stitched up lol.
